Hampton’s Street Fest is Back!

City of Hampton will be having their Summer Street Fest starting April 21st. The Fighting Jamesons will Kick off this year’s Summer Street Fest. Every Saturday from April 21st through September 1st, Hampton takes to the streets for a fun-filled street festival on Queensway in Downtown Hampton. Live entertainment and cold refreshments will be had during every Saturday’s Hampton Summer Street Fest. The dates of the live entertainment are as follows.

Hampton City School’s Budget Meetings

Hampton City Schools will be holding 3 budget meetings starting tonight, March 14th at 6:30p.m. This is your chance to hear from Dr. Schifflette and other Hampton City School Represenatives and their thoughts about the school budget. This will also be your chance to ask questions, give comments or express your concerns about the future Hampton City School Budget for the coming year. Please participate tonight, March 14th or March 21st or one more chance on March 28th at 6:30p.m. All Hampton Cty School Budget Meetings will be held at Jones Magent Middle School in the audiotorium. Restaurant Week in Hampton VA

Its that time of year again! Restaurant week in Hampton. This is one of Hampton Virginia’s Events that you do not want to miss. Several Restaurants in Hampton are participating in Restaurant Week in Hampton. Those participating include Bensi’s, Abuelos, Brent’s, Cinebistro, Conch and Bucket, Cyprus Grille, Green Turtle, Grey Goose, Hayashi Sushi and Grill, , Marker 20, Musasi’s Japanese Restaurant, Park Lane Tavern, Regatta Grille and Tap House.

Most restaurants participating in the Restaurant Week in Hampton have specials for lunch and for dinner. Most include appetizer and/or dessert. Prices range between $10 and $20 for lunch and $20-$30 For dinner.

Hampton Va Needs Citizen Input on the Budget

The city of Hampton needs citizens to give their input on the budget for the coming year. Hampton Va prides themselves on having citizens part take in the budget year to year to make sure all needs are met. There are several ways a citizen of Hampton Va can put their input in on the budget.

The city of Hampton VA is hosting several public polling forums starting February 28th. The first is at Hunter B. Andrews School on Victoria Blvd from 6-8pm on the 28th of February. Next at Phoebus High School on Ireland Street on the 3rd of March from 9-11a.m., again on March the 7th, Citizens can go to George Phenix School on Big Bethel Road from 6-8pm and one more time on the 10th of March from 9-11a.m. at the West Hampton Community Center on Briarfield Road.

There will be online polling for Citizens of Hampton Va to get their input on the budget from February 29th-March 11th at www.hampton.gov

Hampton City Council will have a public hearing on the FY13 Budget on April 25th at 7pm. They will have a Budget work session at 1pm on the 2nd of May, followed by a public hearing on the budget at 7pm. Then on Wednesday May 9th at 6pm, the regular public comment session by Hampton City Council and then the Adoption of the FY13 budget will take place at 7pm.

There will also be online chats by the city of Hampton, noon on Thursdays: March 1st, 22 and 29th. Go to www.hampton.gov/chat to follow online.

Hampton, VA Police taking Applications for E-911 Telecommunications Position

The Hampton Police Division is currently accepting applications for the position of E-911 Telecommunications Position until March 1st. The position will assist public safety officers by providing them with real time information and communication support services. New hires will learn how to perform such tasks as E-911 Call Taker and dispatching for Police and Fire Telecommunications. The position also offers outstanding benefits including health, dental, eye care as well as paid holidays, sick and military leave.

Ever wanted tolearn more about the city of Hampton, Va? Here’s your chance! The city of Hampton, VA offers classes for lifelong learning. You can start by taking the Hampton 101 course. Very informative and a great way to learn more for free. The classes start February 23rd with a class about Hampton, VA’s government. City Manager, Mary Bunting and Director of Community Development, Terry O’Neal will start the Hampton 101 series that night. For more information please go to www.hampton.gov/Learn/

This Hampton 101 series is only one of many classes offered by the city of Hampton. All of these classes are free. From parenting 101 to diversity classes, there will definitely be a class for you.
