There has been a lot of polling in the city of Hampton lately on the Budget. If you went to one of the meetings where the polling for Hampton’s Budget took place, you are probably wondering about the results.

How was the Housing Market in Hampton VA last month?

How’s the Housing Market in Hampton VA? This is a thought on everyone’s mind lately. Are houses selling in Hampton VA? Yes! yes they are. Last month 107 homes sold in Hampton VA. This is a good number considering February is usually a “slow” housing market month. The highest priced home sold in Hampton VA last month was $520,000 located in Salt Ponds, a beautiful Waterfront home. The lowest priced home sold in Hampton VA was located in the Hampton Langley area (Fairview Farms) closing at the price of $24,000. The median sold to list price was 98%. This means that of all of the homes sold in Hampton VA, 98% of them sold at the original listed price. And the average days on market is down to 78 days.

The Hampton VA Housing Market is picking up. Now is the time to buy! First of the Hampton City Budget Meetings are tonight, February 26th at Kecoughtan High School

Have questions about the City of Hampton Budget? Will have a 24 cent tax increase to save the Hampton City Budget? How does the Budget affect our Hampton City Schools? How does the Budget affect our Hampton City Services? If you want answers, come tonight to Kecoughtan High School on Woodland Road in Hampton at 6:30p.m. City Manager, Mary Bunting and the superintendent of Hampton City Schools, Dr. Schifflette will be there to discuss the proposed budget cuts and the need for the 24 cent increase in real estate taxes to save the City of Hampton from the cuts. This two hour informational meeting is the first of a few meetings set to take place over the next few weeks in Hampton, VA. Other meetings are as follows:

Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Kecoughtan High School
Saturday, March 2, 9-11 a.m., Bethel High School
Thursday, March 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Hampton High School
Saturday, March 9, 9-11 a.m., Ruppert Sargent Building, first floor conference room

How many Homes have sold in Hampton, VA so far this year?

That is a great question and I have a great answer, too! So far this year, the housing market is off to a great start. 39 homes have sold (yes, that means changed owners, not under contract) since January 1st of this year in Hampton, Va.

Out of those 39 homes, the least expensive home sold for $27,000 and was located on Old Buckroe Road and the most expensive home that sold in Hampton, VA since the beginning of 2013, sold for $338,700 and is located on Peppermint Way. The average price home sold in Hampton VA in the past 45 days sold for $126,312 and the average days on market are about 93.

Hampton City and Schools Budget Outlook

The City of Hampton has hit a crucial point in School and City Budgets. With the decline of city assessments, taxes have naturally fallen and in turn our city’s monies have lessened. At this point, the citizens of Hampton need to make a decision; do we raise taxes to support our city or do we cut out key programs in the city and school? Key programs to include Blue Bird Gap Farm, History Museum, no raises for City employees and in the schools, teacher cuts, bussing cuts, AP Program cuts, High School Class Structure to be changed. The City Manager and the School Superintendent have come up with several meetings over the next few weeks to give citizens a chance to voice their opinion as well as see exactly what the future holds in the City of Hampton. Please make every attempt to join one of these meetings. Everyone’s input is important.

Capital Improvement Plan Community Forum

Learn where money comes from, how projects impact neighborhoods and the overall financial outlook for the city. You will even have an opportunity to participate in keypad polling to show our preferences on CIP priorities.

Hampton Holly Days Parade

The Hampton Holly Days Parade: Babes in Toyland, one of the largest annual illuminated parades in all of Hampton Roads, starts this Saturday at 7 p.m. Staging begins at Lincoln Street and Armistead Avenue, continuing down Lincoln to Eaton Street and the intersection with Settler’s Landing Road. The parade will travel from Eaton Street and Settler’s Landing to Kecoughtan Road, ending at Kecoughtan and Victoria Boulevard. Holly Days Parade
